KitschThe homepage

What it's trying to do

The homepage sells things a shopper can buy anywhere. Its job is to take somebody who came for one product they saw on TikTok and hand them a routine under one name: shampoo, pillowcase, heatless curler, shower filter. Best sellers, top collections, and what's new all sit in the top half for that reason.

What works

The review block is the strongest thing on the page. "WE'VE ALWAYS BEEN OBSESSED WITH OUR CUSTOMERS & WE THINK The Feeling Is Mutual," then five quotes with names attached. What makes them land is time. Tasha's satin pillowcase is four years old. Clara W. has had the heatless curler over a year. Most homepage reviews say a product is good. These say it lasted, which is the one claim in this category worth making.

Three fixes

  1. the H1 is a title tag

The only H1 on the page is `<h1 class="sr-only">KITSCH™ Official Site | Hair Care & Accessories</h1>`. It sits beside the logo, invisible, and it's a title tag wearing an H1's clothes.

The words a person actually reads first are on a four-slide carousel: Made For Every Kind Of Rush, Halloween is Here!, The Tennis Collection, The TikTok Edit. Which sentence the brand opens with depends on when you land.

Slide three currently reads "Meet you NEW sporty faves, made so serve looks." Two typos, live right now. That isn't a proofing failure. It's a measure of how few people ever reach slide three, inside the building included.

Lead with one slide. Make the hidden H1 that slide's real words.

one opening sentence every visitor and every crawler gets, instead of four that rotate past most of them.

  2. the founder is the last thing before the footer

The Our Story block sits at the bottom of the page, under the reviews and above the pricing policy. It's the paragraph naming Cassandra Thurswell, Wisconsin, age 25, 2010, over 20,000 retail locations. No photo of her. No link out of the block at all.

"Our Founder" is a real page. It's linked once, in the footer, under ABOUT US.

Move Our Story above the reviews and link it to that page. The writing is already done. It just runs after the scroll depth most people never hit.

the one section of the page a competitor can't copy gets read.

  3. two Organizations, no founder

The page ships two Organization blocks in its structured data. One lists five social profiles plus four empty strings, with no address. The other carries the Larchmont address and phone number and an empty `sameAs`. They disagree, and only one has an ID.

Neither one has a `founder` property. Cassandra is in the body copy and nowhere in the machine-readable version of the brand. That's the version an assistant reads when a shopper asks it who makes Kitsch.

Merge the two into one block. Keep the socials and the address. Add the founder.

the story survives being summarized by something that never looks at the page.

What I'd make instead

The best line on the site is buried in that Our Story paragraph: "Beginning in 2010 with a business plan no longer than a paragraph."

That's the film. Not an interview in a nice room. The paragraph itself, or whatever she remembers of it, against 20,000 retail locations fifteen years later. It's specific, it's dated, and nobody else owns that piece of paper.

Shot the way the rest of your content is shot, so it reads as a Kitsch video and not as the one polished outlier in the feed.

All three are doable by your team without me. If one is worth acting on, I'll send the rest of what I found. If not, no harm.
